Anwaruddin Khan (1672 – 1749) was the 1st Nawab of Arcot and a key figure in the first two Carnatic Wars, serving as Subedar of Thatta and later as the Nawab of the Carnatic. He rose through the ranks in the Mughal Empire and became a prominent military leader, ultimately supporting the English against the French during conflicts in India. Anwaruddin was killed in battle at Ambur in 1749, marking the end of his reign and the beginning of a succession struggle in the region.
