About this document

Privatization by Prateek Sharma is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Privatization of water services in Argentina in the 1990s led to an 8% reduction in child mortality overall, and a 26% reduction in poor areas. The authors used differences over time and place in water ownership to identify the causal impact. Child mortality rates decreased at the same pace initially for areas that later privatized and those that did not, but fell faster after 1995 when most privatization occurred. The impact was largely from reducing deaths by infectious/parasitic diseases linked to water
