Can I read Hydrometallurgical Copper Extraction on EtoBox?

Hydrometallurgical Copper Extraction by Mark E. Schlesinger; Matthew J. King; Kathryn C. Sole; William G. Davenport is a book available to read on EtoBox.

What is Hydrometallurgical Copper Extraction about?

Previous chapters describe the processes of concentration, pyrometallurgy, and electrorefining that convert copper sulfide ores into high purity electrorefined copper. These processes account for about 80% of primary copper production. The remaining 20% of primary copper production comes from hydrometallurgical processing of mainly copper oxide and chalcocite ores. This copper is recovered by leaching (this chapter), followed by solvent extraction (Chapter 16) and electrowinning (Chapter 17). The final product is electrowon cathode copper, which is equal to or often greater in purity than electrorefined copper. In 2010, about 4.5 million tonnes per year of metallic copper were hydrometallurgically produced. This production is steadily increasing as more mines begin to leach all or some of their ore and treat lower-grade materials, some of which were previously considered to be waste.
