What is Advances in Retrial Queues about?
In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in the investigation of the ''retrial phenomenon'' in communication systems. As a result, the modelling of repeated attempts has been the subject matter of many investigations dealing with the influence of the retrial phenomenon in the quality of service and the performance analysis of retrial queueing systems. The existing literature includes applications to collision-avoidance protocols for local area networks, call centers, fast reservation protocols for asynchronous transfer mode networks and cellular mobile telephone networks with retrial customers. The purpose of this feature issue is to select original, high quality contributions to the study of relevant retrial queueing models regarding the methodological and/or practical interest. The source of articles was the WRQ'06 meeting (Sixth International Workshop on Retrial Queues, July
