What is Toeing the lines : women and party politics in English Canada about?

This is the only book to examine the political history, attitudes, and participation of women in English Canadian political parties. It reviews the background to female enfranchisement and right to hold public office, sit in the Senate, and entrench equal rights in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Bashevkin argues that relatively few women are active at elite levels in political parties, particularly in those that hold power or are in a competitive position in the opposition.<br>
