What is Infection Risks in Tibial Plateau Fractures about?

This study evaluated risk factors for deep infection requiring reoperation after open reduction internal fixation of bicondylar tibial plateau fractures in 302 patients over an 8-year period. Key findings indicated that open fractures, smoking, compartment syndrome, and the use of two incisions and plates were significant predictors of deep infection. The overall deep infection rate was 14.2%, with Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) being the most common organism identified.
