Can I read TOFD vs PAUT: Key Differences Explained on EtoBox?
TOFD vs PAUT: Key Differences Explained by Rahul Dubey is a document available to read on EtoBox.
What is TOFD vs PAUT: Key Differences Explained about?
TOFD uses two probes on either side of a weld to detect defects by measuring the diffraction of ultrasonic waves at defect tips. PAUT uses a phased array probe with multiple independently pulsed elements to focus beams and generate B-scans, C-scans, and S-scans of welds. Both techniques can detect and size defects but PAUT has advantages of beam steering and focusing capabilities compared to TOFD. Code cases allow substitution of TOFD and PAUT for radiography on heavy wall pressure vessel welds and nozzles.
