This study evaluates the compatibility of the linear-quadratic (LQ) model and biologically effective dose (BED) concept in high-dose-per-fraction irradiation using a murine tumor model. Results indicate that the LQ formalism underestimates the in vivo effects of hypofractionated radiation by approximately 20%-40%, with discrepancies increasing with the number of fractions. The findings suggest that BED may not be a reliable measure of tumor response in this context.
