What is Mitosis Staining in Garlic Root Tips about?

This document provides instructions for staining chromosomes in root tip cells of garlic to observe mitosis under a microscope. Root tips are harvested and fixed in acetic ethanol, then treated with hydrochloric acid and stained with aceto-orcein or toluidine blue. Squashing the root tip cells allows observation of chromosomes at different stages of mitosis, including prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase, under 400x magnification.
