About this document

Types of Butt Weld Joints Explained by Sanjay Gheji is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Arc welding is a fusion process that joins metals by melting and intermixing them with a filler metal. Upon solidifying, it creates a metallurgical bond as strong as the base metal. There are three types of butt joints for welding: a square joint for thin sheets, a single V-joint for 1/4-3/4 inch thick metals beveled at 60-75 degrees, and a double V-joint for metals over 3/4 inch thick or where strength is critical, though it requires more preparation.
