This study evaluated 740 epilepsy patients in Saudi Arabia to assess the impact of parental consanguinity (PC) on epilepsy classifications and etiologies. The results indicated that while PC was associated with a higher family history of epilepsy, it did not significantly influence epilepsy classifications, etiologies, or MRI/EEG findings. The study concluded that counseling for families with epileptic members should focus on family history rather than the presence of consanguinity.
