What is Application of convective heat transfer process in reduction of consumption of alcohol during the biodiesel production process: A theoretical study about?

Progress in energy demand and continuous long-term environmental pollution are the major complications faced by mankind in the current scenario on using fossil fuels. Development of alternate fuels like biodiesel, derived from various biomass materials, has shown more interest in recent times. Biomass is a plant/animal/agriculture material which can be valorized easily by different methods and further can be used as fuel to produce electricity/heat. In general, biodiesel is prepared by the transesterification process, i.e., the reaction of fat or oil (edible/non-edible/bio-oil, etc.) with an alcohol in the presence of a heterogenous or homogenous catalyst to form esters and glycerol. Apart from the determination of feedstock conversion to biodiesel, catalyst activity study, and reaction mechanism, one should concentrate on how much alcohol is getting vaporized during the biodiesel preparation process, which can be more helpful in the production of a low-cost final product. Hence, in the present perspective article, a novel communication on the calculation of the amount of alcohol vaporized during product development has been discussed.
