Can I read The mechanism of the air-afterglow NO + O → NO2 + hν on EtoBox?

The mechanism of the air-afterglow NO + O → NO2 + hν by K.H. Becker; W. Groth; D. Thran is a Physics and Astronomy article available to read on EtoBox.

What is The mechanism of the air-afterglow NO + O → NO2 + hν about?

The air-afterglow reaction NO + 0 + NO1 + hv comprises a two-body radiative recombinntion at s rnte of 4.2 X lo-18 cm3 molecule-' set-1 and a three-body process at a rate of 7 X 1O-32 cm6 molecule-\* xc-l with 02 3s third body. Within experimental error limits, the yield of the chemiluminescent three-body reaction coincides with the overall termolecular combination of NO with 0. The recombination mechanism consists of the formation of unbound molecules [NO;] which are in equilibrium with the reactants with an equiM?rium constant of 2 X IO+' cm3 molecule-' andof subsequent stabitization competitively by radiation and by vibrationai relaxation, which removes an average energy amount of about 800 cm-' per gas-kinetic collision with hf = 02. A similar energy transfer mechanism also predominates with other third bodies such as He, Ne, AC, Hz, and N2; with CO2 and SF6 the air-afterglow may involve different elementary s!eps.
