What is Bighorn Sheep: Habitat, Life, and Threats about?

Bighorn sheep live in rough, mountainous terrain in western North America. They prefer open grasslands near steep cliffs and slopes. Males usually live 9-12 years while females live 10-14 years. Bighorn sheep live in herds of 5-15 and eat grass and plants. Their population declined significantly due to hunting and loss of habitat, though protections like captive breeding have helped their recovery. Today their main threats are lack of habitat from development and disease transmission from domestic sheep.
