About this document

Antimicrobial Resistance in Periodontal Anaerobes by RENATO SUDATI is a document available to read on EtoBox.

This study analyzed obligate anaerobic bacteria isolated from 41 periodontal abscess samples. 60 different bacterial strains were identified, with Prevotella species being most common. Resistance rates were 6.7-31.7% for various antibiotics. The ermF gene was found in 60.7% of strains and the cfxA gene was found in 53.3% of amoxicillin-resistant strains. This study highlights the need for prudent antibiotic selection due to increasing resistance in bacteria from periodontal abscesses.
