This study investigates the sensitivity of the multivariate exponentially weighted moving average (MEWMA) control chart in detecting shifts in process averages for multivariate normally distributed data. The MEWMA chart is shown to be more effective than individual EWMA charts, successfully identifying mean shifts in simulated data with an optimum weight value of 0.1. Results indicate that MEWMA can detect shifts that might be overlooked by traditional control charts.
