This study analyzed 112 cases of malaria in children in West Bengal, India between 2010-2011. 47 cases were classified as severe malaria based on WHO criteria. The median age of severe malaria cases was 6 years. Infants had the highest risk of severe malaria. P. falciparum was the predominant species causing severe malaria.
