What is Life and Teachings of Mahavira about?
Mahavira was the last of the Jain Tirthankaras and founder of Jainism. He was born in 540 BC and originally named Vardhamana. At age 30, he became ascetic and practiced severe penance for 12 years. At age 42, he attained supreme knowledge and became known as Mahavira. He preached Jain philosophy for 30 years until his death at age 72.
