This study examines the association between the Retail Food Environment Index (RFEI), dietary patterns, body mass index (BMI), and socioeconomic position (SEP) in urban Mexico, where 75% of the population is affected by overweight or obesity. Results indicate that higher RFEI correlates with increased BMI and unhealthy dietary patterns, particularly affecting lower SEP households. The findings highlight the need for policies to regulate food environments and improve access to healthier food options.
