## Optical power transmission changes of 10-20 dB have been experimen- tally demonstrated by ualying the temperature of a tapered monomode optical jiber that is fixed to a glass plate by two drops of adhesiue. The effect arises from different expansion coeficients of the glass substraie and the silica jiber. This induces rnicrobendings in the tapered region. The temperature range of the sensor may be adjusted from 2 to 100 "(7, depending on the taper length and width.
