What is Algimantas Narakas Died Lausanne, Switzerland, November 25th 1993 about?

All surgeons dealing with brachial plexus surgery were shocked when the news spread that Algi had passed away. He was certainly one of the most colourful personalities in our field. His contributions were outstanding and covered a great range: brachial plexus surgery to radial tunnel syndrome and other reconstructive procedures not related to peripheral nerves. He had a clear way of thinking and had the gift to express his opinion in the most convincing way. If one had to organize a symposium and wanted a vivid discussion, one could be sure of a big success if Algi was amongst the speakers. His curriculum vitae is impressive. His efforts were honoured in many ways. His contributions will last as the surgical community shares a respectful memory of an outstanding member. Surgery has lost a great personality! I personally have lost a comrade of the first hours of brachial plexus surgery, when the modern way of brachial plexus surgery was not yet fully accepted, and we had to fight for it to be recognised.
