This article discusses a numerical method called NURBS-Augmented finite element method (NAFEM) for analyzing the free flexural vibration of thin stiffened plates. NAFEM allows arbitrary placement of straight and curved stiffeners in the model without aligning to the mesh. The method expresses the stiffener stiffness directly in terms of the plate stiffness matrix. Previous research on vibration analysis of stiffened plates using various numerical techniques is also reviewed.
