This document summarizes the isolation and identification of flavonoids from the seagrass Halophila johnsonii. Seven previously unknown flavone glycosides (compounds 1-7) and five known flavones (compounds 11-15) were isolated from whole plant extracts. An additional three known flavone glycosides (compounds 8-10) were also identified. The flavonoid content was qualitatively compared between the leaf and below-ground portions, suggesting these compounds play a role in UV protection for this seagrass.
