About this document

Mexican-Origin Women as Caregivers by Hellen Karoliny is a document available to read on EtoBox.

This article explores how Mexican-origin women in East Los Angeles become oriented to the caregiving role through a cultural psychological lens. Thematic analysis of interviews with 44 informal caregivers revealed that caregiving is seen as an intrinsic quality and is shaped by early socialization experiences, predominantly among women. The findings highlight the complex, culturally influenced processes that inform caregiving motives and practices within Latino families.
