Madonna’s song “Die Another Day” was commissioned by MGM Studios as the theme for the 2002 installment of the James Bond film franchise. In a press release of 15 March 2002, Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli announced: “We are thrilled that Madonna, who is recognized as the world’s most exciting songwriter and performer, has agreed to compose and sing the song for the first James Bond movie of the new millennium” (“Die Another Day Main Title Song”).
