What is Explanation for Excessive Absences about?

The letter apologizes for excessive absences from work due to financial difficulties. The scholar often went home to get supplies like rice since allowances were used up. Sometimes returning was delayed due to lack of money for transportation since the father only had occasional work. Absences also occurred when the scholar was sick, with the longest illness lasting two weeks requiring care from an aunt since living apart from campus.
