Sikhism was founded in 1469 in Punjab, India by Guru Nanak Dev Ji and is followed by Sikhs. The religion is based on teachings from Guru Nanak and nine successive gurus documented in the holy text Guru Granth Sahib. Sikhs believe in one God and equality of all people. They are identifiable by wearing the five Ks: kesh (uncut hair), kanga (wooden comb), kara (steel bracelet), kirpan (sword), and kacchera (undergarment).
