This document describes a demonstration of phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) on welded pipe specimens. It conducted PAUT on 3 specimens - a 12" pipe-to-pipe weld, a 2" pipe-to-pipe weld, and an 8" pipe weld. PAUT was able to detect various welding defects like cracks, lack of fusion, lack of penetration, and porosity. It compared the detection ability of PAUT to radiographic testing (RT) and found that PAUT could detect and characterize defects more accurately than RT in many cases. The report document
