This study examined whether ChatGPT could generate reading comprehension test items that were comparable to those created by human experts. The researchers had ChatGPT generate reading passages and multiple choice test items in the same format as items from the Korean SAT (CSAT). They then surveyed 50 pre-service and in-service teachers about the naturalness and quality of the passages and items without revealing the source.
