Abciximab is a chimeric monoclonal antibody with the trade name Clotinab/ReoPro. It prevents platelet aggregation by blocking the binding of fibrinogen and von Willebrand factor to glycoprotein IIb/IIIa receptors on platelets. This inhibits platelets from sticking together and forming blood clots.
