This study empirically compares the newly developed Sport Team Identification Scale (STIS) with the established Sport Spectator Identification Scale (SSIS) to evaluate their psychometric properties and predictive abilities. Data from 4,851 participants indicated that STIS is a more reliable instrument for measuring fan identification with sport teams than SSIS. The findings support the use of STIS in future research and highlight the need for improved measurement tools in sport consumer behavior studies.
