What is Preface about?

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the 16th edition of the Wireless On-Demand Networks and Services Conference (WONS 2021). After a pause in 2020 we are happy to resume the WONS tradition but this time without mountains and skiing. Initially our plan was to organise the conference in Klosters Switzerland but due to the global pandemic, we had to switch the conference to an online format. We are confident that the conference will be held again in a mountain resort next year! The upside is that the online format allowed us to significantly lower the registration fees and at the same time attract a good number of submissions, which allowed us to put up a quality program. This year we received a total of 54 submissions, submitted from 33 different countries, with Germany being the top contributor. Based on 147 reviews, we selected 16 long and 4 short papers, reaching an acceptance rate of 37%. The program includes six sessions, a special session on contract tracing applications to monitor disease spreading, and two keynote presentations, the first by Prof. Jörg Widmer (IMDEA, Spain) and the second by Prof. Jérome Haerri (EURECOM, France).
