What is Consumers as kids or kidding consumers: A reply to Agneta Stark about?
Our article Consumer Reporting." A Conceptual Framework for the Organizational Level (Kasper & Schreuder, 1985)was "aimed at fostering a discussion about consumer reporting at the organizational level" (p. 267). It is, therefore, with great pleasure that we have read Agneta Stark's comments on our paper and that we have accepted the invitation of the JCP Editors to furnish a reply. As our discussant has experienced herself, " . . . the most difficult group to account for has been the consumers" (Grrjer & Stark, 1977, p. 354) in many attempts at corporate social accounting and reporting. It is our hope that a discussion of the conceptual foundations of consumer reporting as well as the operational problems involved will provide the basis for progress in this area. We thank Agneta Stark for her contribution to this discussion and for the opportunity to further clarify our point of view. A number of her comments can be interpreted as an internal critique of our proposed framework. Quite a lot of her objections, however, fall outside the scope of our proposals. We shall deal with the latter category first.
