What is Amado V. Hernandez: Life and Works about?

Amadov. Hernandez was a Filipino writer and labor leader born in 1903 in Manila who was known for his criticism of social injustices in the Philippines. He joined the resistance movement during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines in World War II. As a labor leader and political detainee, he wrote socio-political novels based on his experiences. Hernandez was imprisoned for his involvement in the communist movement and died in 1970 at age 66.
