Running Wild were a pioneering German heavy metal band formed in 1976. They helped establish the German power metal scene in the 1980s and were one of the first bands to adopt a "pirate metal" theme with their 1987 album Under Jolly Roger. The band was led by founder and only consistent member Rolf Kasparek. In 2009, Rolf announced Running Wild had disbanded and their final show was recorded for the 2011 album The Final Jolly Roger.
