The House of Representatives honored Miss Philippines Gwendoline Ruais with a congressional resolution for winning first runner-up in the Miss World 2011 beauty pageant in London. Ruais received the resolution from Speaker Feliciano Belmonte, Jr. which consolidated several measures honoring her accomplishment. Ruais expressed gratitude to the House and called for government support in the Miss World Philippines bid to host the Miss World finals in Manila in 2013, saying it could boost tourism.
