This study examined the effects of different blood alcohol concentrations (BACs) on performance in the divided-attention steering simulator (DASS) in novice drivers. Thirty-two subjects received placebo or alcohol doses to achieve BACs of 0.02%, 0.05%, 0.08%, or 0.10% before completing the DASS task. Performance was impaired in both the single-task and dual-task conditions of the DASS in a dose-dependent manner.
