This document discusses the preparation of activated carbon from Paulownia wood using zinc chloride (ZnCl2) activation. The influences of carbonization temperature (400-700°C) and impregnation ratio (ratio of ZnCl2 to wood, 0.5-4.0) on the pore structure of the activated carbon were investigated. The highest surface area (2736 m2/g) and micropore volume (0.69 cm3/g) were achieved with a carbonization temperature of 400°C and impregnation ratio of 4.0.
