The DA-BFAR IX initiated a mobile community pantry to provide food relief to coastal fishing communities in the Zamboanga Peninsula region affected by the COVID pandemic. On May 25th, 250 food packs containing rice, noodles, canned fish and dried fish were distributed to fisherfolk in Isabela City, Basilan. Regional Director Isidro Velayo and other BFAR IX officials led the activity. Additionally, members of the BFAR-IX employee cooperative donated food items to the collection in the spirit of bayanihan. 13
