What is Six-membered N-heterocycles: Amines and carbonyl compounds about?
Heterocycles are important compounds in the area of organic chemistry. The N-heterocycles are key building blocks employed to synthesize the compounds of medicinal or biological interest to chemists. Because of their wide range of biological activity, industrial, and synthetic applications, the formation of these compounds has attracted great attention for the development of improved approaches toward milder, clean, and high-yielding strategies. Iodine has been known as a cheap and less toxic catalyst with moderate Lewis acidity and H2O-tolerance in organic chemistry. Some I2-mediated organic conversions have been developed from easily accessible substrates under the mild reaction conditions. This chapter targets to describe the applications of I2 in the overall formation of six-membered N-heterocycles.
