What is The Epic of Gilgamesh Overview about?

The Epic of Gilgamesh dates back to the Old Babylonian period between 2003-1595 BC. It is considered one of the earliest great works of literature and includes stories about the semi-god king of Uruk, Gilgamesh. In this passage, Gilgamesh and his friend Enkidu enter the Cedar Forest to confront its guardian, Humbaba. They defeat Humbaba in battle with the help of the god Shamash. They then cut down many cedar trees to take back to Uruk.
