The 1988 World Snooker Championship was held from April 16th to May 2nd at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. Defending champion Steve Davis defeated Terry Griffiths 18-11 in the best-of-35-frames final to win his fifth world title. A total of 113 players competed in qualifying matches, with 16 advancing to join the 16 seeded players at the main event.
