About this document

WAPDA Conductor Types and Ratings by Mirza Riyasat Ali is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Aluminum conductors like AAC, AAAC, ACSR, and ACAR are commonly used in WAPDA at various voltage levels. AAC is made of aluminum strands and used in urban distribution. AAAC uses a stronger aluminum alloy and has good strength. ACSR has a steel core for additional strength. ACAR wraps aluminum around a strong alloy core. For high voltages over 220kV, bundled conductors are used to reduce electric field gradients. Maximum transmission voltages worldwide range from 500kV in Pakistan to 1,100kV being developed
