The photochemical reaction between Mnz (CO) 1o and tramor cis-1,3-pentadiene yields three tetracarbonyl-q3-enylmanganese complexes with E-1,4-pentadien-3-yl, EE-2-penten-4-yl and EZ-2-penten-Cyl ligands. The novel n3-pentadienyl complex was separated from a 1:3/3:4 mixture of the two q3-pentenyl derivatives by HPL-chromatography and characterized by C and H elemental analyses, as well by IR, 'H NMR and "C NMR spectroscopy.
