This study examined the influence of temperature on compaction of four commercial ultrafiltration membranes - two regenerated cellulose membranes (UC030 and C30V) and two polyethersulfone membranes (UH030 and UP020) - using real-time ultrasonic time-domain reflectometry (UTDR) measurements. The results showed that temperature increase significantly increased compaction tendency of the UC030 membrane but not the C30V membrane. The two polyethersulfone membranes were also affected differently by temperature.
