This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluates the predictive utility of the total Glasgow Coma Scale (tGCS) compared to the motor component of the Glasgow Coma Scale (mGCS) and the Simplified Motor Scale in identifying patients with serious traumatic injuries. The analysis of 18 studies involving over 1.7 million patients found that while the tGCS showed slightly greater discrimination for in-hospital mortality and other severe outcomes, the differences were small and likely clinically unimportant.
