Lefty Frizzell was an influential American country music and honky tonk singer and songwriter in the 1950s, having a string of hits that broke into the top ten on the country music charts. He toured with Hank Williams and had four songs in the top ten at the same time in 1951, a feat unmatched until The Beatles. He later performed at the Hollywood Bowl but struggled with alcoholism and died of a stroke in 1975 at age 47.
