Compound 1 reacts with dicvclooctyl phosphinic acid to afford the mixed nuclear cluster [{Sn(;?- From the reaction of 1 with half or one mole equivalent each of /-BuP(0)(0H)2 and Pl^POOH in toluene, the unsolvated extended cluster [{Sn(n-Bu)(0 2 PPh2)Cl2}{Sn(/?-Bu)(0 2 PPh2)2(OH)}]2 (6) is directly isolated, suggesting the preferential formation of this skeleton.
