What is Spain about?

Spain is implementing a national Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) for single-use beverage containers, with a deadline set for November 2026. The scheme is being developed under the Spanish Packaging Royal Decree 1055/2022, and a deposit value of approximately €0.10 per container is anticipated. Stakeholders, including trade associations and environmental NGOs, are actively engaged in the planning process, with regional pilots testing readiness ahead of the national rollout.
