What is Hedda Gabler: Eilert about?
Eilert Lovborg visits Hedda early in the morning after a night of heavy drinking. He tells her that he has destroyed his manuscript and broken off his relationship with Thea Elvsted. Lovborg says he tore up the manuscript, though he later admits to Hedda that he actually lost it during a night of debauchery. He says he has no future and wants to end his life. Hedda encourages him to do it beautifully and gives him one of her pistols as a memento to use to end his life.
